RESTAURANTE CASA DO ALENTEJO
The former residence of the Viscounts of Alverca built in the 1800s in Moorish style is now occupied by a cultural association of Portugal’s Alentejo province and its restaurant. Passing through a beautiful courtyard and up the stairs with large stained glass windows you arrive at two fabulous rooms. The biggest one is the former rococo ballroom decorated with mirrors, a large ceiling fresco, and sculptures of allegorical figures.
Na antiga residência dos viscondes de Alverca, construída no século XIX em estilo mourisco, instalou-se a associação Casa do Alentejo e o seu restaurante. Passando um belo pátio interior e subindo as escadas com grandes janelões de vitrais chega-se a dois fabulosos salões. O maior é o salão nobre com uma decoração rococó em que se misturam espelhos, um grande fresco no teto e esculturas de figuras alegóricas.

This restaurant has always made a great effort to create a refined ambience and in late 2012 it decided it was time for a makeover. It kept some of the original chandeliers and furniture but added elements inspired by French Romanticism and the New Gothic. That includes a bizarre image of a golden skull on a wall but the velvets and mirrors create one of the most elegant spaces in the city.
Este restaurante sempre fez um grande esforço para criar um ambiente de requinte e nos finais de 2012 voltou a inspirar-se numa renovação. Manteve os lustres e algum do mobiliário antigo mas adicionou peças inspiradas no romantismo francês e no novo gótico. Inclui uma bizarra imagem de uma caveira em ouro na parede mas entre os veludos e os espelhos cria-se um dos espaços mais elegantes da cidade.
RESTAURANTE SANTO ANTÓNIO DE ALFAMA
This could have been another traditional Alfama restaurant but it is not. Instead, the various rooms spread over three floors are covered with photographs of national and international celebrities, some of them former visitors. The long wooden tables are lit by candles.
Podia ser mais um típico restaurante de Alfama mas não é. Aqui as várias salas distribuidas por três pisos estão cobertas de fotografias de celebridades nacionais e internacionais, algumas delas clientes do restaurante. As mesas corridas em madeira são iluminadas por velas.

This converted warehouse has a dark interior that maintains the industrial architecture mixed with a rather theatrical décor in neo-classical style. Replicas of classical statues (such as the famous 2-meter-tall Victory of Samothrace on display at the Louvre) face the dining area with large windows, velvet curtains, and steel doors.
Este antigo armazém tem um interior escuro que mantém a arquitetura industrial misturada com uma decoração teatral em estilo neo-clássico. Cópias de estátuas clássicas (como a famosa Vitória de Samotrácia de dois metros de altura exposta no Louvre) encontram-se viradas para o espaço de grandes janelas, cortinas de veludo e portas de ferro.
